Beachfront location of the hotel, a bar and a grill at the beach, kind staff. In the resort is also a doctor available.

There were stains on the sheets and towels. I got food poisoning on the first day and was on antibiotics for five days.

Close to the beach and the room was ok, comfortable pillows.

The staff there were very unfriendly, service with growl rather than a smile, very poor value for money imo. Several times we tried to eat at the 24 hour sports bar and also the bar next to the pool and was told food only started at 12 o clock. We was giving 1 bottle of water in our room fridge for 4 nights. Food not very good in the buffet, try and use the restaurants they are better.

Hotel provided everything we needed, we had a great time, it just needs a bit of polish.

The main areas of the complex were good,it was everything surrounding that needed work. Paths needed repaving, statues a bit outdated, tiles in the foyer. Our room was in the old section,,our room was excellent but the walk there needed tidying.

The main restaurant needs facilities for food. My biggest concern being no refrigerated trays for the seafood, cheese, cold meats. the cold food needed cooling and the hot food just wasnt hot enough. The actual food was excellent.

The beach is absolutely amazing - the only reason to stay at...

The beach is absolutely amazing - the only reason to stay at this property.

The rooms were dirty, you are given small (hand) towels which were dirty and when we asked for new ones were refused. The staff are rude and it is very noisy - lots of children playing on loud games machines and tv’s playing very loud music videos. For the amount you pay it is not value for money. The only saving grace is the beach which can be accessed directly from the hotel with loungers provided.

This was the first all inclusive hotel to book so i have no...

This was the first all inclusive hotel to book so i have no comparison but was satisfied. We got upgraded to a deluxe room for free, the bathroom and the room were big and comfortable, the staff very helpful and when the safe didnt work, they fixed it immediately in less than an hour! The beach is 5 min walk and very beautiful and there were activities to do during the day. In overall very satisfied.

The food in the buffet was not very good, but since it is a buffet you can always find something you like.

The hotel is located right by the beach, there are two pools, the adult’s pool is very comfortable and quiet. The grounds of the hotel are very nice with lots of vegetation and hammocks.

Terrible drinks!!! Every single one was really bad. We tried at different bars and none was worth it. The rooms are outdated, towels clean but with old stains and with tears. The bath tub had stains all over. Okay entertainment. We only went the first night and decided to skip the rest.

I wouldn't recommend

The beach is beautiful although the beach bar is open at limited times. The staff is really really great! :)

There was a cockroach on my bathroom, the towels have been there for a looong time, the cleaning should be much better and the lights were not working in the room or the bathroom. It was impossible to regulate the temperature in the room also...everything there was very old and dusty. And I'm allergic. At some point the bar inside didn't had ice too. The infrastructure could be improved for sure.

Worth of its money

Nice hotel, wonderful beach, plenty of free sun beds and umbrellas. Variety of tasty food & very nice staff in the main restaurant, in the garden, on the beach. Good shows in the evening.

Awful staff on reception: rude, useless, helpless, not polite, not hospitable, not friendly. The hotel doesn’t give receipt for amount of stay. Dirty towels not white, but yellow.

Desperate need of renovation

The staff at the bar, restaurant and cleaner were nice and cheerful. The mojitoes were a nice bonus.. especially at the beach restaurant.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The decor is definetly lost in time. The room was scary.. especially the bathroom. I woke up with a lizard on the ceiling..plus there were ants everywhere. The buffet food was the same evening/night and definetly not tasty. No matter how hard the chefs will try they definetly didn't have the products to work with. I'm glad I didn't have to stay there for longer.

Worst hotel ever.

Nothing.

This is the worst hotel I've ever been in my life. Just a few examples: 1) used condoms in the pool area, right beside the beach chairs, where people and children walk barefoot - simply disgusting and they do not clean everyday so.. they just stay there for days; 2) coachroches in the restaurants, walking on the food tables; 3) rude staff, they have no idea how to treat guests, they don't care if you have any kind of problem and literally laugh at your face if you ask for help; 4) the building and the facilities are old and dirty, just as much as the rooms where nothing works. Examples: we had no lights in our room and the technician had to take off a light bulb from the corridor to put it in our lamp; we were 3 people in a room and only had 2 towels, we were told that it was because they had a problem with the washing machine; there's no hot water in the room, it's sort of lukewarm sometimes, or just cold. Awful place. Don't spend your money there.

General positive feedback and good value for money.

Very close to nice beach and water sports included. Great choice of restaurants and many bars close to beach and swimming pool.

The hotel building and room required refurbishment as many things didn’t work and couldn’t be fixed properly. Also food in buffet restaurant in a quite warm temperature a bit risky to try even looks delicious.

What was the highlight of Starfish Varadero Hotel

It was a lovely relaxing break to finish our stay in Cuba.

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room and corridors are a bit run down but very clean and the hotel is clearly in the process of being updated and renovated. Their Cuba day was excellent, lots of entertainment on site. Pedalo boats and short sailing rides were also available as part of the all inclusive deal. Breakfast at the Buffet restaurant was good, dinner at the restaurants varied in quality but generally okay. Beach is beautiful and the hotel is set in lovely grounds.

The hotel is about 10km from the main town which is fine if you don't plan on leaving the resort or are happy to pay taxi (15 CUC) fares there and back. I think there are also local buses. This isn't a criticism, I just think if we went back to Varadero I would prefer to stay nearer the nightlife.

Very wide range of food, close to the beach, nice staff of the hotel, good animation programme.

Sometimes was food of bad quality, after the first dinner I spent the next day with diarrhoea and vommiting (after 2 weeks travelling on the Cuba without any problems), the drinks was of bad quality but for this price you cannot expect top quality, rooms weren't much clean and equipment were old but usuable

Nice for a few days

Great entertainment for all ages. It's variety of foods at the buffet. Snack bars open during the day too. Beach located at the back of the hotel. Free pedal boating and kayaking included.

The grounds are massive so it might not be practical for physically less abled people. 10 mins in taxi to get to the centre.

Can't say that I really liked something.

The all inclusive drinks only to get in plastic cups they were really bad quality and almost no alcohol inside. The location for breakfast / dinner was quite noisy and very busy. The water to shower is often cold or even no water at all. The outside area had pretty overdue maintenance. The wind passes from the back to the front on the ground floor in the central hall. There was no nice coziness inside the hotel.

Will never stay here again or will never reccomend this hotel to anyone

Beach and beach staff..

Staff told us "No" for everything. Our room did not have towels took the staff 4hrs to send towels after calling twice, the safe was also locked took 2 calls for the staff to assist which also took approx 3.5 hrs. We where denied at one of the restaurants and told us we needed reservations, no one told us at the front desk about this and also failed to provide us with the information. The buffet was very bad, counted 4 roaches wandering around the food which was very concerning and upsetting to us. We ate on the beach and outside the hotel as a result ofnthe conditions in the buffet.

I dint like the staff in the buffet restaurant, very slow service for anyone that look Cuban , if you are Canadian or European you surely gonna have good service ,but this is no place for Cuban Americans.
